Profile
Talyia Eve Riemer, Ed. D., brings more than two decades of experience as an educator and administrator in the third-largest school district in the country. As an administrator, Talyia was instrumental in the adoption of an individualized approach to Professional Development, identifying needed supports and resources for trans students and their families, and supporting her school in maintaining accreditation as an International Baccalaureate Programme provider. Talyia holds both Master's and Doctorate degrees in the field of Curriculum and Instruction, as well as certifications and endorsements in ESL Instruction, Mathematics, and School Administration. For the past 10 years, Dr. Riemer has provided new teacher mentoring and designed and delivered Professional Learning and Instructional Coaching to teachers across the country, from novice to veteran. Some of the workshop topics that she has presented include LGBTQ Equity in the Classroom, Cultural Consciousness, Curriculum Mapping, Performance Evaluation, Reading as Formative Assessment, and Differentiation and Assessment. Talyia is a National Board Certified educator and has been awarded the Golden Apple Foundation’s Teacher of Distinction Award. She currently supports new teachers entering the profession by providing undergraduate education, post-graduate mentoring, and professional learning.

Course Notes: While not mandatory, during this course students will have the opportunity to conduct a minimum of 20 hours of field experience in a P-12 classroom environment, often requiring an Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card.
